The French Ritual is a French-learning podcast where you learn French by living Rose's life with her.
Rose is a 24-year-old American who moves to Paris on a whim without speaking French. You follow her as she learns to cook, makes friends, falls in love and builds a new life in Montmartre, picking up French through the same conversations and experiences she does.
French sticks through repetition, food, sound-alike mnemonics and Rose's nightly diary. Instead of memorising vocabulary lists, Rose creates memorable associations between French words and familiar English sounds, then encounters and repeats those words naturally throughout her life in Paris.
For example, je m'appelle becomes “jam + apple”, ici sounds like “I see”, and incroyable becomes “Ink Roy's able”. The silly, visual associations give new French something memorable to attach to.
Each episode gradually introduces more French as Rose's own French improves, so you're learning alongside her as the story progresses.
It feels more like following a Parisian story than taking French lessons.

Recognising a word and recalling it are two different things.
